Upgrading to XP? Follow our 6 easy steps.
 
What you will need !

o  A Pentium 4 processor with at least 256M of memory (minimum)

o  MS Office Professional 2000 or 2002(XP). 

o  A Capable media CD which is less than 12 months old.  Replacement media can be ordered through
Comtrendz or Capable Software.  The cost is A$100.

o  A backup of your Database. 

DO NOT use "backup" from Windows 98 to backup Capable. Under XP there is no Win98 Restore utility.

6 Easy Steps:        
NOTE:    
You must be an Administrator to install Capable 
You must back up your data or make a copy of  the c:\capable folder onto a cd or a zip disk
 

1. Install XP and either MS Office Professional 2000 or 2002(XP).   
DO NOT install MS Office WORKS.   

 2. Install Capable from the CD Media. 
 During the installation Capable may ask you to replace files.  Say "NO" to all occurrences.

3. Once the installation is complete, copy the saved Database into C:\Capable folder  Reply "YES" to overwrite the existing Database.

4. Start Capable and key in your CD Key.

5. Capable may come up with a 535A error.  This is OK.  All you need to do is perform a LIVE UPDATE
Just follow the steps and key in your Capable Internet UserID & Password.

6. Once complete, Start Capable.   

 

Tips

Inserting pictures:

save the picture to your /company/newsletters/HTML_ newsletters/assets  directory.

You must make sure they have the full link e.g. http://www.capable... all the way through to the picture.gif . Do this at the end because you won't be able to see the the pictures once you put in the full link.

You can copy and paste the link to the assets directory by clicking on one of the images at the top of this newsletter.

Microsoft Product Support Lifecycle
Microsoft have officially retired what they call ‘Mainstream Support’ for Windows 98, Windows 98SE, Windows NT.

Mainstream support for Microsoft Office 95 ceased some 18 months ago at the end of 2001.

Microsoft have not announced support expiry dates for Office 97, any of the 2000 products or XP products.

At this point in time, Capable Does not support the following products:

1.  Windows 95
This product is now obsolete

2.  Office 95 Suite of products
This product is now obsolete

3.  Windows ME
our testing labs have found that this product is unsuitable and not the best working environment for Capable 21C

At the end of Year 2003

Secondary support for Windows 98, Windows 98SE and Windows NT will lapse in January 2004.  At this time, Capable will cease support for these operating systems as well.

We suggest that you upgrade your systems or at least make plans, to upgrade in 2004.
